Our upholstery collections feature Two Sisters Ecotextiles fabrics, beautiful fabrics that met our outrageous standards for purity, quality, and sophistication. Choose from hundreds of sustainable fabrics with many being either Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified (Winthrop, Ducky, Chelan) or Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified (Orcas, Columbia, Sequoia, and Palouse). Two Sisters Ecotextiles is a company founded by two sisters who have been changing the way textiles are made, proving it's possible to produce pleasing upholstery fabrics in ways that are non-toxic, ethical, and sustainable.
For a minimum charge of $75, Two Sisters Ecotextiles can prewash to preshrink Columbia, Orcas, Puget, and Sequoia if you plan to wash your removable cushion covers occasionally. The Winthrop fabric is already pre-shrunk. They elaborate further regarding care here.
Camira Fabrics produces all of its fabrics in The U.K. and they have a distribution center in the U.S. Their contract grade wools and wools blended with hemp, flax, and silk are naturally flame retardant with no topical treatments and are very durable. They are EU Ecolabel certified, Greenguard Gold certified (not a stringent cert) and the wool is from New Zealand where the practice of mulesing is illegal. No heavy metals are used in the dyes. These fabrics have heavy-duty contract ratings, which far exceed that of residential heavy-duty.
Ecopell leather from Germany is vegetable tanned and uses no heavy metals. Get to know a leather that meets the highest expectations of environment-friendly production, comfort, quality, and health.
Order as many fabric samples as you'd like to find the perfect fabric and once you've decided, you can purchase extra fabric by the yard at the time you order your new upholstery to provide peace of mind for life's little (or big) accidents.

Because of the felting process, the wool resists spills, which sit on the surface and can be scooped up before they soak into the fibers. Rated at 80,000 Martindale, Palouse can be used in any setting with aplomb. And in addition to this hard working fabric, you’ll also experience the exceptional benefits of living with wool.

Consider ordering arm covers and throws to protect your investment on an ongoing basis. Consider ordering a few extra yards of fabric from the same dye lot as your upholstered piece should a cushion cover and paneled section need to one day be replaced
Because dust and dirt cause fabric to wear faster, we recommend vacuuming regularly with an upholstery attachment. An annual professional vapor cleaning will keep your upholstered furniture looking its best. To minimize fading, avoid placing your upholstered furniture in direct sunlight or in front of a gas heater. Dark fabrics and natural fibers like cotton are most susceptible to fading.
For isolated spot or stain: Blot stains or spills with an absorbent white cloth and distilled water only. Do not rub the stain into the fabric. If stain persists, a paste of OXiClean Laundry Baby Stain Soaker and distilled water can be sprinkled on stain. Gently rub the paste with a dry cloth. Let sit for 10 minutes, then vacuum. If the stain persists after three applications, do not continue. Contact a professional steam cleaner and advise them of the problem as well as the desire to have the fabric cleaned without harsh chemicals. Do not use chlorine based bleach.
Cushion covers to avoid shrinkage: Spot clean with mild detergent.
Entire upholstered piece: Professionally vapor (steam) clean at high temp with low moisture to avoid using chemicals.
Fabric: Hand wash in cold water and air or line dry. Maximum 7% shrinkage.
