Winthrop is a canvas with tightly twisted yarns, so the overall effect is soft yet substantial, with a lovely drape. Perfect for upholstery in the most demanding residential conditions. It’s also great for slipcovers. The wonderful hand lends itself to many other applications. Fabric from the Winthrop collection, like many we feature, is washable – in fact the fabric benefits from washing and use, becoming softer and more lustrous as it ages. Though washable, we recommend professional cleaning if it's upholstered on a frame.

Because dust and dirt cause fabric to wear faster, we recommend vacuuming regularly with an upholstery attachment. An annual professional vapor cleaning will keep your upholstered furniture looking its best. To minimize fading, avoid placing your upholstered furniture in direct sunlight or in front of a gas heater. Dark fabrics and natural fibers like cotton are most susceptible to fading.
For isolated spot or stain: Blot stains or spills with an absorbent cloth. Do not rub the stain into the fabric. If stain persists, mix equal amounts of water and vinegar, and blot stain.
Cushion covers to avoid shrinkage: Hand wash in cool-cold water. Air or line dry.
Entire upholstered piece: Professionally vapor (steam) clean at high temp with low moisture to avaoid using chemicals.
Fabric: Can be machine washed on gentle cycle at all temperatures. Air or line dry to avoide shrinkage beyond 3%.
